October 30 Updates

  • We are currently working on the administrative interface and feature development on the new platform that will replace OpenScholar (HarvardSites Drupal).
    • Calendar and Publications features are currently being developed and will be available by the end of the calendar year.
  • We are aiming for the week after Thanksgiving break to launch a handful of small sites on the new platform.
  • Training and documentation will be ready about the same time.
  • We are also developing scripts to automate the data migration out of OpenScholar and into the HarvardSites Drupal platform. This will facilitate and speed up migration.
    • Batch migrations out of OpenScholar will start around March 2023. Sites will be migrated “as is”, same Information Architecture, etc.) to the new platform, and reviewed by HWP and the site owners to make sure everything looks OK.
    • Visual design will be updated to reflect the new modern, more accessible templates available in our design system.
