December 6 Updates

HarvardSites Drupal Platform Updates

  • The Development teams have been working on the following items, with a first release (platform version 1.0) slated for spring of 2024:
    • Authoring experience: Improve the user experience and interface for site builders
    • Events content type: Calendar functionality for the new platform
    • Biblio content type: Publication functionality for the new platform
    • Grouper integration: Provide the ability for select groups (or individuals) to access a website
    • Pilot websites: Successful migration of pilot sites and content/quality assurance review

User Experience Design Updates

  • The User Experience Design team has been working on the following items:
    • Developing a Design System Style Guide website to demonstrate the flexibility of the new design system
    • Establishing guiding principles for the design system (ACES):
      • Accessible – to support disability inclusion on our digital campus
      • Communal – to support web governance centrally and in Schools and Units
      • Empowering – to support creation of attractive, engaging, accessible, and effective websites
      • Scalable – to allow websites to adapt gracefully along with standards and technologies
    • Reviewing every component of the design system for ease of use and accessibility
    • Incorporating FAS, CADM, and HDS requirements into the design system

Client Engagement Updates

  • The Client Engagement team has been working on:
    • Developing platform documentation and training for availability by March
    • Planning for site assessment and initial bulk migrations
    • Working with pilot website owners on planning and timelines for launching their new site
